Exploring Shamanism
Understanding the Ancient Practice
An Ancient Practice
Welcome, gentle soul, to an introduction to the world of shamanism- a practice that bridges the seen and unseen, helping us realign with our soul’s deepest truth and the wisdom of the natural world. Shamanism is both ancient and universal, a spiritual practice rooted in deep respect for the Earth and the interconnectedness of all living things.
What is Shamanism?
At its core, Shamanism is a spiritual practice that believes everything has consciousness- whether it’s the rivers, trees, animals, or plants.
Shamans are healers, guides, and wisdom-keepers who work with the spiritual realms to bring balance, clarity, and healing to the physical world. The word "shaman" originates from the Tungus people of Siberia and translates to "one who sees in the dark," reflecting a shaman’s ability to navigate the unseen realms to bring back insights and healing.

Shamanism is one of the oldest spiritual practices in the world, dating back tens of thousands of years. It has appeared in countless cultures across the globe, often taking on unique forms depending on the environment and the community’s needs. While the tools and traditions may differ, the intention remains the same: to heal, restore balance, and deepen the connection between humans and the sacred.
Shamanic Cultures
-
Indigenous Cultures: Native American shamans might work with animal spirits or ancestors, while Andean shamans honour Pachamama (Mother Earth) in their healing ceremonies.
-
Northern Europe: Norse seidr practitioners used their connection with spirits to guide their communities.
-
Siberian and Mongolian Shamans: Often called upon for healing or guidance, they may travel to the spirit realms using drums, chanting, or trance states.
-
Celtic and Druidic Practices: These ancient practices emphasize connecting with the natural world and unseen forces.
No matter the culture, shamans are often seen as bridges between worlds, helping individuals and communities thrive in harmony.
The Modern Practice of Shamanism
Today, Shamanism has evolved and adapted to modern life while still maintaining its spiritual essence. Modern practitioners often combine ancient techniques- such as drumming, journeying, and working with spiritual allies- with a compassionate understanding of contemporary struggles like emotional blocks, trauma, and disconnection.

What Happens in a Shamanic Healing Session?
In a Shamanic Healing session, I’ll guide you through a process of releasing what no longer serves you, calling back fragmented parts of your soul, and restoring balance within your mind, body, and spirit. Here are a few key components that may take place during your session:

-
Shamanic Journeying: A guided experience into non-ordinary (meditative) realms to uncover insights, connect with guides, or receive healing.
-
Energy Clearing: Releasing dense or stagnant energy to create space for growth and healing.
-
Soul Retrieval: Bringing back lost parts of your soul for a sense of wholeness and empowerment.
-
Divination: Receiving wisdom or answers to help you align with your path.
Each session is entirely unique, tailored to your needs, and approached with deep respect and care.
